The Diversity, Inclusion and Global (DIG) Innovation Network consists of 74 YMCAs that have made an organizational commitment to integrate diversity, inclusion and global strategies across key operational and programmatic areas to strengthen their capacity to serve diverse and underserved populations, foster community cohesion, and address social equity and inclusion issues. The Family YMCA became the 72nd (out of approximately 2,700 in the country) designated Diversity, Inclusion and Global Innovation YMCA in March 2017!
At The Family YMCA, we work to ensure that everyone in our community feels welcome and fully engaged as participants, members, staff and volunteers. To that end, we have a Diversity, Inclusion & Global Innovation Committee focused on this important work.
If you would like to join our committee, we welcome you! Please contact George Marsden at gmarsden@laymca.org for more information.

The Y is made up of people of all ages and from every walk of life working side by side to strengthen communities. Together we work to ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, age, cultural background, ethnicity, faith, gender, gender identity, ideology, income, national origin, race or sexual orientation has the opportunity to reach their full potential with dignity. In 2017, The Family YMCA was recognized as a CHAMPION YMCA for being inclusive and vocal leaders of LGBTQ staff, volunteers, participants and well as the LGBTQ community in general.
