Jr. Roller Derby

Roller derby is a contact sport played by two teams on roller skates, on an elliptical track and is one of the most rapidly growing sports in the country.

The Los Alamos Cherry Bombs are a junior roller derby team sponsored by the Los Alamos YMCA, welcoming to all youth who are interested in the sport of roller derby. All skill levels welcome! Loaner gear is available for new participants. The Cherry Bombs are members of the Junior Roller Derby Association and compete locally and nationally.

Practice Information

Mondays:

4:00PM - 5:50PM All levels
4:00 - 5:15PM on skates
5:20 - 5:50PM off skates (bring your yoga mat)

Starting April 2021, practices are held at the Los Alamos County Skating Rink (4475 W Rd, Los Alamos, NM 87544) [Directions]
Starting October 18, and case of rain, practices held in The Family YMCA gym (1450 Iris Street, Los Alamos, NM 87544).

Tuesdays:

5:15PM - 6:30PM off skates practice for 13 and up. Weight lifting and mobility training. Free for members, if you are not a member please speak with Carrie on Monday practice.

Wednesday:

6:00PM - 8:00PM All levels

Starting October 18, and case of rain, practices held in the Pueblo Gym (1990 Diamond Dr, Los Alamos, NM 87544).

Ages 9-18
Cost: $30 per month

Jr Roller Derby is now categorized as a “Youth Club Sport” and will therefore follow COVID Safe Practices outlined in All Together New Mexico: COVID Safe Practices for Individuals and Employers and the New Mexico Activities Association’s Guidelines for Participation.

All program participants must sign a COVID-19 waiver and COVID-19 Code of Conduct before participating.
