Y Closure **Update
Dear YMCA Members and Program Members,
The Family YMCA is committed to being a resource for improving the health and well-being of the community. We made the difficult choice to close our facility in support of the larger community effort and now need to extend that closure a few days due to the new State order. We need your help, so that we can fully be there for the community when this all passes and “normalcy” returns.
While we are currently unable to continue our livestreaming under the new State order, here is a link for free access to more than 100 AT HOME WORKOUTS. Also, our staff is working hard to remotely provide teens access to the “QuaranTEEN” center.
The Family YMCA was founded 65 years ago by community volunteers who recognized a need for a place where families could recreate together. As a nonprofit organization, we are solely dependent on our local members and program members’ dues for services, as well as donations for specific programs from hundreds of generous individuals, companies and foundations. Our Y also has a few contracts to provide services at our teen centers, and jobs for youth during the summer.
Our Y, like nearly every Y association in the United States, is respectfully asking its members to continue with your membership during these difficult times, allowing the Y to meet its obligations to staff, and ultimately to remain in existence.
The Y’s commitment to this community remains steadfast: never turn an individual away due to their inability to pay and to offer programs that meet the needs of youth, teens, and seniors.
On April 1, 2020 the system will draft your April membership dues and program fees. We recognize each member’s situation is different and would like to give you an opportunity to continue to support the Y during the closure and help us ensure we will be there for you in the future. Please review the options below and respond with your preference. If we do not receive a response by COB Friday March 27th, we will assume you wish to continue supporting the Y financially during this time.
- If you would like to continue to support your Y by allowing your monthly membership dues to be used as a donation, please reply DONATE and include your name and phone number. With this option, you will be able to recognize your gift as a tax-deductible donation during our facility closure.
- If you would like your payment to be applied to future dues or fees, reply SYSTEM CREDIT and include your name and phone number. We will apply the prorated amount for the time of our facility and program closure toward future fees.
- If your financial situation requires you to place your membership/program registration on hold or change status at this time, reply HOLD and include your name and phone number. This will begin the process of making those changes. Because of the circumstances, we will be waiving any applicable fees when you choose to reactivate.
Because of limited staffing, please reply by email. Make sure to include your name and phone number so that we can respond to confirm. If you have questions, or need to talk directly with one of our helpful staff regarding your membership, please call the front desk and leave a message.
