Art of Yoga is a seasonal program for teen girls that meets once per week for 6-8 weeks. Additional all-genders-inclusive weekend retreat workshops may be offered based on interest and availability.
2018-2019 dates/times TBD; ask staff if interested in participating.
Tired of the vicious cycle of "mean girl" drama?
Want to build each other up instead of tearing each other down?
Want to ground yourself in your body, and/or nurture your creative spirit?
Join facilitators Kristine and Ericka in a safe space where girls can explore feeling strong in their bodies, confident in their minds, and be able to express their true selves through creative art experiences. During this six week class you will learn basic yoga postures and principles, have opportunities for self-reflection and discussion, and participate in a series of inspiring art projects.
The Art of Yoga is a gender-responsive program designed to help young women develop the self-awareness, self- esteem, and self-respect necessary for making healthy lifestyle choices. The program is evidence-based and trauma-informed. Each session begins with a rigorous, strengthening yoga practice and continues with a creative art activity led by positive, caring adult mentors. The Art of Yoga encourages young women to find their voices, to explore creative outlets for their emotions and dreams, and to be accountable to themselves and their communities.
