We have a variety of interesting programs and activities going on. Check back for more details and updates as they become available.
Teens who have completed their 8th grade year and are attending LAHS in the fall of 2024 are eligible to start attending the Teen Center on Monday June 10th.

- 6/3 Lazer Tag Event (8am - 2pm) In partnership with LAHS, the Los Alamos Teen Center will be hosting mini lazer-tag sessions at the Los Alamos High School. For more information and/or to sign-up for this event contact LAHS.

6/7 Year End BBQ (9am - 12pm) In partnership with LAHS, the Los Alamos Teen Center will be hosting lawn game stations and video games at Los Alamos High School for the last day of school. For more information and/or to sign-up for this event contact LAHS.
- 6/9 Pride Week Intergenerational Game Night (4pm - 8pm) Open to the public.
Kick off Pride Week by joining the Los Alamos Teen Center staff for a fun night of games, food, conversation for all ages that is open to the public. We will have giant games (giant Jenga, giant connect 4), shuffle board, various board games and puzzles.

6/10 Pride Week Tie Dye (12pm - 3pm) Open to the public. Join Teen Center staff and members of the Teen Center’s Youth Mobilizers to celebrate Los Alamos Pride week with a tie dye event that is open to the public. A limited number of free shirts will be available for participants and you are invited to bring in clothing of your own to tie dye.

6/10 Welcome Event (4pm - 6pm) For high school aged teens (summer after 8 th grade year – newly graduated seniors) Join us for games, food, karaoke and music as you learn about the Teen Center or just celebrate the start of summer vacation.

The Los Alamos Teen Center invites you to join us for a summer skate night at the ice rink. Feel free to use the skates available through the rink or bring your own roller skates or roller blades, if you have them.

(9am - 5pm) Open to youth ages 13-18 This 3 week program will take participants through all of the steps in the process of creating an original short film– screenwriting, camera operation, production planning and location shooting, acting for film, videography, and editing, and numerous other aspects of the film process. Students will write, produce, and star in multiple original short films for entry in a statewide youth film contest. The program is a collaboration between the Teen Center, Youth Activity Center, Fuller Lodge Art Center, and PAC 8. Limit 12 students. Cost: $350-700 (scholarships are available, no student will be turned away for financial reasons. Contact

- 7/12 Pool Party (7pm - 9pm) Join the Los Alamos Teen Center staff for a pool party at the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center.
- 7/13 Serial Killer Science: The Grim Pursuit (4pm - 9pm) In partnership with Los Alamos Main Street, the Los Alamos Teen Center will be presenting an interactive adventure, for the Science Fest Discovery After Dark, where you become the detective! Put your investigative skills to the test as you work with a team to analyze evidence, conduct forensic experiments, and decipher clues that will lead you closer to catching a notorious serial killer. This event will have hands-on forensic experiments, Interactive clue-finding activities, and team collaboration and problem-solving.
- 7/14 The Science of Tea (2pm - 4pm) The Los Alamos Senior Center, The Los Alamos Teen Center, and Samizdat Bookstore and Teahouse are pleased to host an afternoon exploring the science of tea! We will taste six different types of tea, each paired with small bites prepared by the Senior Center’s talented chefs. We will learn how terroir, cultivars, and processing affect the chemical composition of teas sourced from India, Japan, Nepal, and China, as well as how our own individual senses influence our experience with taste. We invite you to join us for a highly interactive and relaxed afternoon at the Betty Erhardt Senior Center. - 8/2 Back to School Event (12pm - 3pm) For high school teens (summer after 8 th grade year – newly graduated seniors) Help us to celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of the school year. It is a chance to reconnect with old friends, make new ones, and say goodbye to our graduated Seniors. We will have games, food, and music.

To hang out at the Teen Center or participate in our in-person activities you must complete a Membership Packet. They are available at the Teen Center or can be downloaded with the links in the "Membership" section below.
Current members who are returning to in-person use for the first time since March 2020 will need to complete the COVID Waiver linked below.
Mission
The mission of our Teen Center is to strengthen the self-efficacy and resiliency of community youth through educational support and positive youth development programs.
Space
We reside in the historic Community Building in the center of town, where we have over 10,000 square feet of specially designed program space to serve our teens. LATC is operationally funded by Los Alamos County, and administrated by The Family YMCA. Additionally, we have a myriad of other project partners and donors that help make our programs possible.
Facilities include: Music recording studio, music performance space, movie/gaming room, 2 computer labs, art studio, yoga studio, snack bar, classrooms, and an outdoor deck with amazing views.
Opportunities
LATC has various enrichment programs, activities, events and trainings offered free to teens, in addition to youth-led projects that allow teens to impact their community.
We welcome your ideas and requests for new programming, and encourage you to come by and see what programs we are currently offering.

Membership
Los Alamos Teen Center is free for all high school age teenagers living in and/or attending school in Los Alamso County. High school age home school students and teens working on their GED are welcome as well. "High school age" is defined as the summer after 8th grade through the summer after high school graduation (or the home school equivalent).
