Intro to Metalsmithing: Working with Copper and Brass
These introduction to metalsmithing workshops are designed for those without prior experience. They provide the basics needed to begin making one-of-a-kind pieces out of copper and brass. Students will be introduced to a variety of tools and techniques, including sawing, hammering, stamping, filing, sanding, annealing, wire wrapping, use of a flexshaft, pliers, doming blocks and more. Students can expect to leave class with either a pendant or a pair of earrings of their own design.
Students who return to attend additional sessions will have an opportunity to explore more involved projects that build off of the intial skills they have developed.
Workshops are facilitated by Karla Hoover, who encourages a fun atmosphere for you to get to know one another while creating artful creations of your own designs.
