Job Title: After-School Site Director

Type: Part-time
Pay Rate: $18.50 per hour
Schedule: 30 hours per week (varied hours)

Position Overview:

Do you have a passion for nurturing and guiding young minds in a positive and dynamic environment? The Family YMCA is seeking a dedicated and energetic After-School Site Director to oversee and manage one of our After-School programs at an LAPS elementary school site. In this role, you will lead a team of adult childcare professionals and high school student workers, to ensure a safe, fun, and educational experience for all participants.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Management:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee engaging and enriching activities for children.
  • Ensure the program meets all state and YMCA standards and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and other necessary documentation.
  • Monitor and manage the program budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise, support, and evaluate after-school program staff, including counselors and assistants.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to communicate expectations and provide feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.

Child Supervision:

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the program.
  • Implement and enforce program policies and procedures consistently.
  • Address behavioral issues promptly and constructively, maintaining a positive atmosphere.

Parent and Community Engagement:

  • Maintain open and regular communication with parents about their children’s progress and program updates.
  • Foster positive relationships with school staff, including principals and teachers.
  • Encourage parent involvement in program activities and special events.

Administrative Duties:

  • Keep track of supplies and equipment, ensuring everything is in good condition and properly stored.
  • Prepare reports and evaluations on program effectiveness and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all emergency procedures and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership role within a childcare or educational setting.
  • Experience in planning and implementing child-centered programs.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with children, parents, staff, and school personnel.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle emergencies calmly and effectively.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office, Google Suite).

Certifications:

  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire).
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and move around for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to physically respond quickly in an emergency.
